Here are some facts about Kanata:
A rural community until the 1960s Kanata underwent a complete change during that decade. Planned residential neighbourhoods sprung up and the development of Kanata neighbourhoods started. Today there are a number of main Kanata neighbourhoods, each with its own characteristics.
South March is situated north of the ‘Silicon Valley North’ on both sides of March Road. Many new developments are presently going on the northern part of South March including the modern communities of Morgan’s Grant, Briarbrook, Briarbridge and Brookside.
Kanata North Business Park is still called by its popular name ‘Silicon Valley North’. It is situated between Terry Fox Drive, Herzberg Road and March Road. Many world leader high tech companies had establishments in this area in the past and many remain still. The luxury Brookstreet hotel is in the centre of the park and is only one the many notable Kanata hotels.
Kanata Lakes is located between Campeau Drive, Knudson Avenue and Terry Fox Drive. Kanata Avenue is the main throughfare of the neighbourhood. Kanata lakes is known for its large and well kept residential homes and the members only Marshes Golf Course.

Terry Fox Business Park is by highway 417 and Terry Fox Drive. Kanata West is the new community being constructed along the former boundary of Kanata and Stittsville. New, modern homes dominate here and some big box type stores serve the expanding community.
Bridlewood neighbourhood used to be the western part of Nepean until it was transferred to Kanata in 1978. It is a vital residential area still being developed with new housing projects under way especially in Emerald Meadows and Monahan Landing.
